The True Meaning of Christmas

This weekend Boo boo had to write a paper about what Christmas means to him. He must be growing up. This year it seems that he is starting to understand the true meaning of Christmas. When did Christmas get so out of control? When did people stop celebrating the true meaning of Christmas? This has been a stressful rough year for me. In this year there has been two things that have given me some sanity, exercise and GOD. I don't want to sound like a holy roller, but Jesus is the reason for the season. When and how did Christmas turn into a hustle and bustle gift giving frenzy? Our kids already feel entitled to everything anyway ( I am guilty of letting this happen) But how does going into debt to shower your friends and family with gifts celebrate the birth of our savior Jesus Christ? I believe a lot of the worlds problems have to do with the lack of faith we have. In a weird way, maybe the poor economy will lead to less gifts, which will maybe humble people and make them think about what Christmas is about. I was chatting with two young girls 9 and 11. When discussing things they told me they deserve Ipod Nano's. Do we really deserve anything other than love? What have we taught our children? I am embarrassed and ashamed that I have passed this on. So, Boo boo wrote that Christmas is about Family and Jesus' birthday. I won't say he is wrong. I just want to add love to that list. "for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, so that who ever shall believe in him shall have everlasting life" If we have love in our hearts what in our lives could be terrible. Happy Birthday Jesus!
